  4. Way to go Andy!!!
    I was the only one prepared to vote in the upcoming municipal election. My wife and 2 sons simply had no interest... thinking that it was a waste of time. Now you've given us hope and all 4 of us have agreed to vote for you, a man of principle and integrity.
    let the contest begin.

  5. Finally, a candidate for whom I can vote in good conscience, rather than trying to choose the least of a multitude of evils. When you are elected, I may just change my mailing address from Nepean to Ottawa.

  6. Glad to see you are a details fellow. I hope you will be able to analyze the various cost centers of the city and guide decisions to prune unnecessary activities that the city shouldn't be involved in. I'm sure most taxpayers only want to pay for city staff that do important and necessary jobs, those jobs that most would agree are the mandate of the city government. Also, if there is work that repeatedly needs outsourcing where it would be more cost effective to have full-time skills in-house, then perhaps there can be layoffs (not attrition) for people in those departments with inadequate skills and hire those with the needed skills. We need to get city priorities straight and we need to reward management that can rally to true efficiency, and not try to build a larger empire under them. Are there any benchmarks for excellence in efficiency (ratio of city workers to city population) for similar size cities in the developed world that we can look to for guidance? Why can't we make Ottawa into one of the best run cities? Surely the hard working and competent city staff would appreciate the respect of the public if such a change could be implemented.

  8. It should be an interesting race now. The only problem might be vote-splitting between Larry and yourself. but in the end voters might give you the nod, as an experienced planner and leader whose ideas are well thought out and stay within budget.

  9. One of the many positive comments posted in response to the Ottawa Sun on line story about your much anticipated return to Ottawa: "...An amazing thing happened this morning I heard a mayoralty candidate , Andy H, answer questions with solutions NOT promises..." This sums up Andy Haydon's mantra in life very well. I speak for many voter's in Ottawa, Andy, when I say "Thank You"
